Potential drawbacks to consider

Low points earn rate at non-yuu merchants

We already know how much you can earn for spending at participating yuu merchants. Now, let’s take a look at the earn rate at non-yuu merchants.

DBS yuu Cardholders accrue 1 yuu point for every S$1 spent at merchants outside the yuu network. Utilising the conversion rate of 3.6 yuu points equating to 1 mile, the resulting earn rate works out to be 0.27 mpd. As you can see, this low rate means that it’s not advisable to utilize this card for non-yuu transactions.

Additionally, alll international transactions conducted with the DBS yuu Card are subject to a foreign currency fee of 3% for American Express transactions and 3.25% for Visa transactions, respectively.

Is this the right card for you?

The DBS yuu Card is an excellent choice for individuals who frequently spend at participating erchants and are looking for high cashback or miles rates on their daily essentials. Make those merchants your regular go-to places for spending, and you'll maximise the card's benefits significantly.

yuu points can be redeemed for either cash rebates (instantly to offset purchases at yuu merchants) or converted to miles. This gives you flexibility based on your preference.

However, if your spending isn't concentrated at Cold Storage, Giant, Guardian, foodpanda, etc., you won't maximize the high cashback/miles rates. Other cashback cards might offer better rates on general spending. Additionally, high spenders who frequently exceed S$600 at yuu merchants may find that a different card offers better overall returns on your entire spend, as the boosted earning rate is capped at S$600 per month.

In essence, if you're looking for a highly rewarding card for your everyday essentials and you frequently shop at the wide network of yuu merchants, the DBS yuu Card can be incredibly beneficial.
